Webkinz Birthday Party

Kids are going crazy for the newest trend from Ganz, Webkinz! So of course any kids would love a Webkinz themed birthday party. Here is how we did are Webkinz birthday for my 9 year old sister.

The first thing we did was decide that we wanted to focus mainly on the Webkinz pink pony, one of my sister's favorite Webkinz. You can do any specific animal or all the animals it doesn't really matter. But for our party it made it easier because we could do pink cups, pink tablecloths, pink everything. We got most of our supplies at our local dollar store, The Dollar Tree. We were able to get the napkins, silverware, tablecloths, and even party favors enough for all 8 girls at the Dollar tree. We are talking things like lip gloss, fake cell phones, jewelry, and all the other pretty girl things they love. It made it easier designating one animal because that way we adapted the party to fit into one specific theme as opposed to just saying all the Webkinz. You are more likely to find supplies under a specific animal, such as pink pony, than you are for a multiple animals.

Our goody bags for each guest contained a Webkinz and Webkinz trading cards, as well as the other favors I had mentioned before such as the lip gloss and toy cell phones. It was cheaper than "building a bear" type parties, wich are becoming old news. I would suggest that you buy the Webkinz a little at a time or in bulk on eBay. A lot of times the stores will have a sale or you can find a good deal on eBay and it is better to grab them when you can. We went to a Hallmark the other day and they were having a 40% off sale on Webkinz and Webkinz stuff. So if you keep your eyes open and call around you might just get the heads up on a great deal.

All parties need games. There are a couple of different options you can do for Webkinz games. One option is to look on Webkinz world in their section called Crafty Critters. There at Crafty Critters you can look in two different places for Webkinz themed games: games and activities both which are under party ideas. They have some games that are based on the Webkinz arcade, such as Fence Painter and Where's Wacky. The games from the game section require some handy crafts from Mom or Dad, such as with Fence Painter where you will need to create a fence shaped backdrop and colored paper for the fence posts. So these games are a little more difficult but they are fun.

Another game we played was Pin the Tail on the Pink Pony, which is a classic (On Webkinz they call it Pin the Glasses on Plumpy). We made Pink Pony Tails out of a pink wig we bought at the Dollar Tree and drew the pony on a white poster board, also bought at the Dollar Tree. We took the wig and cut it in to part like a tail and stapled it to a felt sticker. Just like with regular Pin the tail, we blindfolded the kids and spun them around. Then they took the "pony tails" and attached it to the board with the felt sticker. The problem we ran into with was that the girls were feeling around for the other tails to know where to stick theirs. We found that in the future we won't allow the girls to feel and just make them stick it where ever they land. There was one little girl who ended up being so really far from the board, about a good foot at least. We ended up giving the prize to her because we knew that out of anyone she was not cheating.

The girls' favorite game was called Statues, which is a game you will not find on Webkinz world. In Statues I would play some music and the girls were supposed to dance around and be generally goofy. When the music stops the girls are supposed to freeze and pretend to be statues. It is surprising how still 8 and 9 year old girls can stand, so we had to change the rules and make the girls stand on one foot. If someone moved they were out. The last one standing is the winner! As you can see, all of our games had a winner and were eliminating type games; we did this intentionally so that we could give away prizes.

Cake is essential for all birthday parties. This is where Webkinz world again comes in handy. On their Crafty Critters page they have Pet Specific foods. We did Sweet Clover Cake because that was the brown Clydesdale favorite food, which was another of my sister's favorite Webkinz. All we did to make this was by a lemon flavored cake mix, green food die, white icing, and cupcake cups in the shape of a heart. We made the cake in the individual cupcakes and dyed the icing green. The cupcake molds were tin foil and again we bought it at the Dollar store. I just mixed up the cake in a jiffy and baked it in the cupcake cups. After we iced it with the green icing we designed it in the shape of a clover. The best part was that we could give each girl a cupcake and not have to worry about cutting a bunch of slices. Each girl ate as much of her cupcake as she could and than if they couldn't finish we sent it home with them. It was really easy, delicious, and the birthday girl loved it. If they don't have your pet specific food, be creative. You might find that making your child's pet specific food is easier than you would have thought.
